COLLEGE MEN'S GOLF: Bucknell finishes in 7th out of 20 teams at the Cornell-Colgate Invitational

Hamilton, N.Y. -- The Bucknell men's golf team competed in the Cornell-Colgate Invitational this past weekend. The event is held on two different Robert Trent Jones designed golf courses in the middle of Upstate New York.

The first day of competition took place at the Robert Trent Jones golf club in Ithaca, N.Y. Leading the way for the Orange and Blue was junior Dan Gale (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat) and sophomore Jimmy Freeman (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margarets) shooting 77 and 78 respectively.

The second day of action shifted to the site of the 1977 NCAA Division I golf championship. Seven Oaks Golf Club, located in Hamilton, N.Y., is Colgate's home golf course. Bison linkster Freeman continued with his sharp play by shooting a three-under 69 to put him in third place overall for the tourney with a 36-hole total, 147.

As a team, Bucknell men's golf finished in 7th place out of 20 teams. A big improvement from last year's disappointing 17th place finish. The team will play again this weekend when it hosts the Bucknell Invitational on September 15-16.
