Kosteva And Freeman Lead The Way To A Second Place Finish
Sept. 25, 2000 COLLEGE MEN'S GOLF: Bucknell Finishes in second place at St. Bonaventure Keenan Invitational Lewisburg, Pa. -- The Bucknell men's golf team competed this weekend at the Leo E. Keenan Invitational at St. Bonaventure. The Orange and Blue had four individuals finish in the top 25 at the tourney. Leading the way was senior captain Ken Kosteva (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) and sophomore Jimmy Freeman (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margarets). Freeman was low medallist for the Bison shooting a 72 on the first day and a 73 on the second 18-holes for a 36-hole total of 145, good enough to put him in a tie for third at the invitational. Kosteva had another strong showing shooting 73 and 76 (149), which placed him in a tie for 15th. As a team, the Bison finished in second place out of 18 teams. The Orange and Blue finished only three shots back from tournament champion American University. Also having a good weekend for the Bison linksters was freshman Scott Leeder (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Ramapo) who finished with a two-day total 150 (77-73), including a 73 in the final round of play. The Bucknell men's golf team will play again this Thursday, September 28 when they compete at the ECAC qualifying round at the Honey Run Golf Club in York, Pa.
