Lewisburg, Pa. -- The Bucknell men's golf team competed in the Bucknell Invitational this past weekend. The event was held at the Bucknell Golf Club which lies on the outskirts of Bucknell's main campus and is a tough 6253-yard course.

On the first day of action, the Bison were led their senior captain Ken Kosteva (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) and sophomore Jimmy Freeman (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margarets). Both Kosteva and Freeman finished with 69's which were good enough for the overall lead after 18 holes. Freeman's round was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par three 13th hole. The Orange and Blue came into the club house after the first round of play with a 294 and a four shot lead over Indiana University of Pennsylvania and St. Bonaventure.

The second round saw a turn in fortune for the Bison linksters. The Bison were unable to keep up with their pace set on Friday and shot a team total of 305. The final score for the Orange and Blue was 599, putting them in second place behind Colgate which shot a 596 (299-297). Leading the way was freshman Scott Leeder (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Ramapo) with a 74. Kosteva finished as low medallist for the Bison with a cumulative total of 78 and a fifth place finish.

The Bucknell men's golf team will play again on September 24 and 25 at the Leo E. Keenan Invitational at St. Bonaventure.
