LEWISBURG, Pa. - -- On the strength of his first career tournament victory and three top-10 finishes in as many events in the month of September, Bucknell senior Dan Bernard (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Month on Thursday.

Bernard picked up his first career win at the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 14-15. He opened with a career-best 1-under-par 69 and followed it up with rounds of 71 and 76 to win by two shots over teammate Luke Edelman. Bernard became Bucknell's first individual winner since Andrew Cohen at the Lafayette Invitational in the spring of 2010, and he is the team's 15th medalist in the last nine years.

That was not the only strong performance for Bernard, who was the team's low player in all three September events. He finished T-4th at the Cornell Invitational with rounds of 73-75, and T-10th at the Colgate Invitational with scores of 76-77.

Bucknell has finished in the top four in the team standings at all three tournaments so far, and the Bison will be back in action this weekend at the Binghamton Invitational at the Links of Hiawatha.
