Men's LAX Drops First Contest of Season To Gritty UPENN Squad

Philadelphia, Pa. - This afternoon the #12 Bucknell men's lacrosse team dropped its first contest of the season to the Pennsylvania Quakers, 11-3. The Quakers were led by sophomore Scott Solow who tallied three scores in the contest. The Bison found themselves down early in the contest 4-0 at the end of the first quarter and behind 8-1 after 30 minutes of play. Netting his sixth goal of the season in the first stanza for the Bison was sophomore Kelly Hogue (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West). The Herd never really pulled things together on the offensive end of the field as they were eventually outshot 35-26 in the game. Also scoring for the Orange and Blue was senior Mark Juelis (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and junior Brian Loesch (Baldwin, N.Y./Kellenberg). Overall, the Bison picked up 23 ground balls, were successful on 12 clears and won 10 out of the 17 face-offs. Junior Beau Standish (McLean, Va./Exeter) and sophomore Justin Sussman (Towson, Md./Friends Academy) combined for 10 saves on the afternoon.
