Lewisburg, Pa. - The Georgetown Hoyas, on the strength of a 5-0 first quarter advantage and four-goal effort from senior Scott Doyle (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep), defeated the Bucknell Bison 13-6 on the Bucknell East Field this afternoon. The #8 Hoyas improve to 7-1 on the season, rebounding well after receiving their first setback of the year over the weekend to Pennsylvania, while the Herd fall to 7-3 overall.

Doyle started the scoring early as he tallied two goals during a 34 second span in the first quarter to give Georgetown a 2-0 lead. Three more goals, including an extra-man goal from the stick of Doyle at the end of the period gave the Hoyas the 5-0 advantage.

The Herd opened the second quarter with two important goals from sophomore Dennis Geraghty (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) in the first minute of play. Sophomore Kelly Hogue (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) cut Georgetown's lead to two, 5-3, when he scored off a pass from senior Michael Cheng (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) with 11:03 left in the stanza. The Hoyas retaliated to the Bison charge ringing off two quick goals of their own from junior Steve Dusseau (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Neal Goldman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial). Geraghty scored once more for the Orange and Blue, his third of the afternoon, and Doyle tallied his fourth to close out the first half scoring with Georgetown leading 8-4.

Both teams held each other scoreless in the third quarter and the draught was not broken until Hogue scored his second goal of the afternoon with 13:11 left in the contest. Over 16 minutes of game clock expired before Hogue's goal pulled the Bison within three of the Hoyas. This would be Bucknell's last breath as Georgetown ran off five unanswered tallies in the fourth quarter. Leading the charge was Dusseau with two of Georgetown's fourth quarter goals, he finished the game with three goals and one assist. Senior Mark Juelis (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) scored with four seconds left in the contest to bring the scoreboard to its final reading of 13-6 in favor of Georgetown.

The Bison will have some time off before their next contest, which is not until Saturday, April 14, when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to play against Patriot League competitor Colgate. Georgetown will play its next contest this weekend against ECAC foe, Stony Brook, on Saturday, April 7.
