LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Army and Bucknell, two of the top Patriot League men's lacrosse teams since the league's inception 16 years ago, renew their entertaining rivalry on Friday night at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. One of these two teams has either won or shared 14 of the previous 15 Patriot League regular-season titles, and they have engaged in some classic games in recent years. In fact, the last four meetings between the Bison and Black Knights have been decided by one goal, with Army winning each of them. Last season, Army won 7-6 at West Point, then triumphed 9-8 in overtime in the Patriot League Tournament.

Friday's game can be heard live on WVBU FM-90.5 as well as on the internet.

Bucknell fell to 2-2 in Patriot League play with a 7-5 loss at Lehigh on Saturday. Army, which is 2-1 in the league, improved to 5-4 overall with an 11-10 overtime win over service academy rival Air Force on Saturday.

Bucknell is currently in fifth place in the Patriot League standings, but a victory over Army would put them back into one of the all-important top-four spots. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Patriot League Tournament.

Both the Bison and Black Knights are midway through their first seasons with a new head coach, each of whom has been tasked with replacing one of the sport's coaching legends. Bucknell's Frank Fedorjaka replaced Sid Jamieson following last season. Jamieson had been the only head coach in the 38-year history of the program. Joe Alberici took over for Hall of Famer Jack Emmer, who also announced his retirement this past offseason after becoming college lacrosse's all-time winningest coach.

Army leads the all-time series 22-4, including those last four one-goal games. The Cadets won each of the first 15 series meetings between 1979 and 1995 before the Bison claimed four of the next seven. Six of the last seven meetings have been decided by a single goal, while each of the last eight clashes have been settled by three goals or less.

Following Friday's game, the Bison will have just one more home game, the regular-season finale against Colgate on Apr. 23.
