LEWISBURG, Pa. - Former Bucknell standout goalie Justin Sussman '03 is expected to make his professional debut this Saturday as a member of the Baltimore Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. According to a team press release, Sussman is listed as the probable starter in goal when the Bayhawks open their season against the Rochester Rattlers at 11 p.m. (EDT) at Seahawks Stadium in Seattle. The game will be televised on a tape-delay basis on ESPN2 on Tuesday, June 1 at 4 p.m.

Sussman was an honorable mention All-American and a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year during a terrific four-year career at Bucknell. He helped the Bison to league titles in all four years and won more games (30) in his career than any other Bucknell goalie. His 572 career saves rank third all-time, as does his .628 lifetime save percentage.

A native of Towson, Md., Sussman joins his hometown Bayhawks franchise that has won the MLL's National Division three straight years and captured the MLL title in 2002. Last season they lost to Long Island 15-14 in overtime in the MLL championship game.

Justin Sussman is expected to start Baltimore's season-opener Saturday against Rochester.

The Bayhawks are led by lacrosse legend Gary Gait, who serves as player-coach. Sussman is one of four goalies on the roster, joining former Johns Hopkins netminder Rob Scherr, Towson alum John Horrigan and Salisbury State grad Erik Miller. Greg Cattrano, who is the only player ever to start in goal for Baltimore, was traded to Philadelphia during the offseason. Last December Sussman was selected in the fourth round of the MLL supplemental draft.

Sussman and the Bayhawks make their home debut on May 27, hosting the Boston Cannons at 7 p.m. at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. Baltimore will make at least four tape-depay appearances on ESPN2: June 1 vs. Rochester in Seattle, June 8 at New Jersey, July 20 at New Jersey and Aug. 10 at Boston. In addition, the New Balance MLL Championship will be televised live at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22.
