LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior attackman Chris Cara (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) added yet another honor to his impressive 2004 portfolio when he received STX/USILA Honorable Mention All-America plaudits for the first time in his career. The teams were announced Monday at the NCAA Championship game in Baltimore.

Cara, who officially won the national scoring title following Monday's national title game, was one of nine attackmen to earn honorable mention honors, in addition to the three players from his position named to each of the first three teams.

With an average of 5.57 points per game (78 points in 14 games), Cara held off Syracuse's four-time First Team All-American Michael Powell (5.24) for the scoring title. The 2004 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Cara finished with 38 goals and 40 assists, missing the Bucknell and Patriot League single-season scoring records by just one point.

Cara's 40 assists were a new Bucknell single-season record, while the 38 goals were tied for seventh all-time. He joined Pete von Hoffmann as the only Bison to gather 100 career assists, and with a full season yet to play, Cara already stands third on Bucknell's career scoring chart with 183 points, just 37 behind von Hoffmann, himself a former All-American.

Cara is Bucknell's 13th Division I lacrosse All-American and 17th overall. The Bison have now claimed an Honorable Mention All-American in each of the last four years, following Mark Juelis in 2001, Kevin Smithies in 2002 and Justin Sussman last season.

Bucknell finished the season with a 6-8 overall record, 4-3 in the Patriot League, and dropped a one-goal decision to NCAA Tournament participant Hobart in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
