LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Andrew Powell (Charlton, Mass./St. John's), a captain on the men's soccer and track and field teams, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in Terrace Room on Tuesday, May 1.

Powell won the Bryan-Humphreys Award, presented to senior athletes "who have exhibited exceptional versatility within his/her sport, displaying outstanding achievement and the selfless determination to help the team succeed by contributing in a number of ways." Powell shared the award with Rebecca Misko of the women's track and field team, who was the female selection.

Powell will graduate with a storied career in two programs. As a sophomore he became Bucknell's first-ever Patriot League champion in the decathlon and later added a pair of heptathlon titles to his resume. In 2012, he successfully defended his conference championship in the heptathlon while also finishing runner-up in the high jump. Throughout his career, Powell has scored in 14 of 16 events at league meets and led the Bison to three team trophies.

On the soccer pitch, Powell has twice been named to the All-Patriot League Team. A starting defender for the Bison who also has five goals to his name, he has helped Bucknell to a pair of conference tournament titles and a regular-season championship in 2009. His contributions led the Bison to back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Championships as well.

Across both sports, Powell has collected eight All-Patriot League citations, six Patriot League team trophies and school records in the decathlon, heptathlon and 4x60 shuttle hurdle relay. He also ranks among the top 10 in program history in the indoor and outdoor high jump, 60-meter hurdles and 4x55 shuttle hurdle relays. In the classroom, he is a five-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East First Team.

Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 3,583 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy.
