Nov. 5, 2007
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's soccer freshman midfielder Ross Liberati (Warwick, Md./Tower Hill) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday. One of two Bison freshmen to start games this season, Liberati joined Joey Kuterbach (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) as the only Bucknell players to earn a weekly award from the league this season. Liberati extended his consecutive start streak to five last week by appearing in the starting lineup in wins over NJIT and Lehigh. Against the Mountain Hawks, in a match that was televised nationally on Fox Soccer Channel, Liberati tallied his third goal of the season to put the Bison up 3-0 with just less than 20 minutes to play. The score was the third of the season for Liberati, who has tallied all three of his goals at home against Patriot League competition. Overall this year Liberati has appeared in 15 of Bucknell's 17 games and has eight starts. The 15 games played leads all Bison freshmen.
Liberati and his Bucknell (8-5-4, 3-2-1 PL) teammates close out the regular season Saturday, Nov. 10, at home against American. With a win, the Bison will clinch their fourth Patriot League Tournament berth in the last five years. Bucknell won the Patriot League title last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
