Bison Swimming & Diving Teams Place Third at Florida Atlantic Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Bucknell University men's and women's swimming & diving teams each placed third at the Florida Atlantic Invitational this afternoon.

The meet was part of the team's annual winter training trip.

With a 509-point total, the Bison women's team placed third among five schools, beating out Nebraska (259.5) and Binghamton (216.50). Bucknell finished behind Penn (967.5) and Florida Atlantic (694.5). On the men's side, the Bison accumulated 529 points and defeated Binghamton (205.5) while falling to Penn (847) and Florida Atlantic (774.5).

Junior Darby Golino turned in the highest finish for the women's team. Golino placed second among 18 competitors in the 200 back in 2:14.27. Freshman Jamie Flick also broke among the top three, as she finished third out of 12 swimmers in the 200 breast in 2:33.41.

Sophomore Peter Garvin was the lone winner on the day for either team. Garvin beat out 25 competitors to win the 100 free in 48.34. It was his third victory of the season in the 100 free.

Both teams will return to action on Jan. 12 when they host Patriot League opponent Lafayette in a dual meet at 11 a.m.
