Faas, Freese and Garvin Top Patriot League Swimming Points List for Seniors
March 25, 2004 LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Patriot League compiled a list of the top ten swimmers from the Class of 2004 based on points achieved in the 2001-2004 Patriot League Championships, and a Bucknell competitior is atop both the men's and women's lists. Meghan Freese (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) and Daniela Faas (Ludwigshafen, Germany/Worcester Acad.) tied for the women's lead, while Peter Garvin (Silver Spring, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) is the league's top male. Freese and Faas both scored 199 points in their four years, with Freese scoring her most as a senior, with 56. Freese has been a gold medalist the past two years in the 50 free and 100 free, while Faas won the 400 IM both years as well. As a sophomore, Faas took first in the 1650 free, while Freese won the 100 free. Garvin earned 176 points in four years, scoring in three events this year, and taking the gold medal in the 50 free and 100 free as a junior. The women's team won their second-straight Patriot League title, while the men's team finished second to Navy after winning in 2003. Jack Sheehan (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway Regional) and Jennifer Cancro (Pearl River, N.Y./Immaculate Heart Acad.) were also in their respective top tens. Sheehan totaled 104 points in three seasons of competition, good for seventh on the men's list. Cancro had the eighth-most points of any senior female, earning 142.
