Stephen Monge is beginning his second season as the assistant coach at Bucknell. Last season, Monge helped coach one Patriot League Player of the Year, three All-PL selections and the women's team that advanced to the PL finals. Monge is a 1998 graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. While at Transylvania, a Division III program, Monge competed in tennis at the varsity level and was a three-year letterman. During his playing career, he was a semi-finalist in the NAIA Rolex Tournament and a finalist in the 1995 Wabash College Tournament. After graduation, Monge spent a year as an assistant coach at his alma-mater where he coached the 1999 Regional Player of the Year. Most recently, Monge had been the head men's and women's tennis coach at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. Monge arrived at Limestone in 2001. Limestone is a Division II school and a member of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC). While at Limestone, Monge's top men's player was named the 2003 Male CVAC Tennis Player of the Year. The honor was a first for any athlete at Limestone. Monge's top men's doubles team was ranked 20th nationally and third in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2003. Prior to Limestone, Monge served as an assistant tennis professional at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center in Hilton Head, S.C. At Palmetto Dunes, a nationally-ranked resort, Monge worked with top-ranked juniors and Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tour players. Monge's first head-coaching position was at Hilton Head High School in Hilton Head, S.C. While at Hilton Head, he was named the 2000 Regional Coach of the Year. | ||||||||||||||||
