Larry Peterson enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Bison tennis programs. Peterson was most recently the boys' and girls' assistant tennis coach at State College High School. In his three years as the assistant head coach for the boys' squad, the team compiled a record of 58-4 with two consecutive trips to the PIAA Team State Championship Final Four and earned a spot in the state quarterfinals. Peterson qualified players in both singles and doubles for the PIAA Individual State Championships for three-straight years, including one who placed fourth in the state doubles in 2004. As the assistant for the girls' team, Peterson helped lead the squad to a 19-13 record. While continuing to serve as the head tennis professional at Toftrees Resort in State College, Pa., Peterson is also the head tennis instructor for the Summer Study program at Penn State University. Additionally, he competes in USTA tournaments, where he has recorded a singles record of 50-15 over the last three years with 10 tournament titles. Peterson is a 1990 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. He received his master of science degree in 1991 from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Additionally, he has completed course work for a master of arts degree in photo communications from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Before his career as a tennis professional and coach, Peterson was a newspaper photographer. | ||||||||||||||||
