Bucknell Men's Tennis Drops 2010 Opener at Penn, 6-1
Jan. 23, 2010 PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team put forth a strong showing in doubles, but Penn had too much firepower in the singles matches and turned aside the Bison 6-1 in the 2010 debut for both teams Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Clark Bogle (Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy) and freshman Josh Katten (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) teamed up for Bucknell's lone victory of the day, an 8-4 pro-set win over Jeff Karsh and Zach Gorn at No. 3 doubles. The Bison dropped close matches at No. 1 and 2 doubles, however, as the Quakers took the doubles point. At No. 1 Penn's Phil Law and Jason Magnes defeated Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy) and Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day) 8-6. And at No. 2 Bucknell's all-freshman team of Evan Zimmer (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and Kelly Morque (Rye, N.Y./Rye) fell 9-7 to Mark Milbrandt and Jason Lin. Penn won five singles matches in straight sets, while Katten was credited with a win at No. 6 singles when his opponent retired due to injury. The Bison will be back in action next Saturday at St. John's at 5 p.m. Doubles Singles
