QUEENS, N.Y. – Bucknell men’s tennis forced some close matches but was unable to get past a tough St. John’s team, falling 7-0 in Queens, N.Y., on Saturday. The Bison are now 0-2 in dual matches this year.

Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) and Kelly Morque (Rye, N.Y./Rye) took their opponents to set tiebreaks in their respective singles matches. After dropping the first set 6-4 to Pavel Cerny, Kovic pushed the Czech player to 7-6 in the second. Morque struggled to bounce back from a first-set breaker to Stefan Bojic and fell 6-1 in the second set.

No other Bison was able to take more than three games off their singles opponents.

Kovic teamed with Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day) in No. 1 doubles, but lost Bojic and Milo Hauk, 8-5. Morque and Evan Zimmer (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex) suffered the same score in No. 2 doubles, falling to Cerny and Mike Lampa.

Bucknell will return to the courts on Sunday, Feb. 14 when it travels to Penn State. The match is set to take place in University Park, Pa.
