Feb. 10, 2003
ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's tennis team completed play at the Cornell Duals on Saturday, February 8. The Bison dropped a 5-2 decision to Buffalo, before falling to Binghamton, 7-0. The weekend duals were the first competition of the spring season for the Orange and Blue. Against Buffalo, freshman Asher Salam got Bucknell on the scoreboard with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Randy Rocchio at number three. Sophomore Joe Menezes followed with a 7-5, 0-6, 10-8 victory against Raugga Aayudha at the fourth singles flight to round out the Bison scoring for the match. Sophomore Nick Denefrio nearly pulled out a win over Josh Liederman at number two. Denefrio won the first set 6-3, before dropping the final two, 6-2, 6-2. Binghamton dominated the Bison, winning every match in straight sets. Denefrio came close to pushing Brad Davidoff to a third set with a 6-1, 7-5 loss at the second flight. That was as close as the Orange and Blue would get, however, as the Bearcats rolled to a 7-0 victory. Bucknell is 0-4 on the season. The Bison are off for over a month before beginning play on their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. BU faces Rhodes College at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10.
