Men's Tennis Team Competes at Lions' Invitational

Bison open season at The College of New Jersey.

EWING, N.J. - The first day of competition is complete in the men's tennis 13th annual Lions' Invitational held at The College of New Jersey on Saturday and Sunday, February 17-18. The tournament got through two rounds of singles action on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday.

Bucknell senior co-captain Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./Saint Georges School) had a successful day at flight C and will be playing for the individual title tomorrow. Hopple defeated his opponent from Villanova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, in his first match of the day. He went on to defeat Millersville's Ryan Cuevas, 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the championship match against Villanova's Paul Moore.

Also having a solid outing is junior Scott Allen (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga). Allen will be playing in the third-place match on Sunday. He opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Villanova's Ryan Devine, before falling to Ryan Mellinger of Millersville, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Allen will face Jay Berger of The College of New Jersey in the consolation match.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday in TCNJ's Student Recreation Center with the crowning of singles champions in the first, second, and third flights.
