Men's Tennis Completes Competition at 13th Annual Lions' Invitational

EWING, N.J. - The final day of competition concluded in the men's tennis 13th annual Lions' Invitational held at The College of New Jersey. The tournament crowned three singles champions, and featured a round-robin doubles format. Senior co-captain Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./Saint Georges School) took on Villanova's Paul Moore in the championship match of flight C. Hopple suffered a 7-5, 6-4 setback to finish as the tournament runner up. Bucknell senior Jeff Gould (Coram, N.Y./Newfield) won his only match of the day, picking up a 9-8 (5) victory over Matt Tallman of The College of New Jersey for seventh place in flight B. Junior Lee Scarborough (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) also took seventh place, defeating TCNJ's Ralph Gilmore, 8-2, at flight C. The Bison doubles tandem of Hopple and co-captain Alex Davydov (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) went 1-2 in the round-robin format, picking up an 8-0 decision over Ryan Cuevas and Justin Miller of Millersville at flight B. Also posting a 1-2 doubles record was the duo of Scarborough and junior Scott Allen (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) as they defeated Ryan Devine and Casey Simmons of Villanova, 8-6, at flight C. The Bison are in action next when they travel to Hilton Head Island for their annual Spring Break trip, March 10-18.
