Bison Men's Tennis Uses Strong Singles Play to Defeat Duquesne 5-2

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - After giving up the doubles point, the Bison men's tennis team stormed back with their strongest singles play this season, winning five of six singles points to notch a 5-2 win over Duquesne, Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa. The win is the second of the season for the Bison who improve to 2-5 this spring. The Bison dominated the Dukes in singles play winning five matches in straight sets. Nick Denefrio started off the Bison run defeating Michael Ortega at one singles, 6-2, 7-5. Ira Reibeisen followed at two singles taking out Devon Peightal, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Asher Salam kept the momentum going at court three, downing Rodrigo Lacayo, 6-1, 6-4. Gerald DiChiara earned another Bison win at four singles, upending Paul Clough, 6-2, 6-4. John Lashnits notched the final Bison singles win, besting Adam Townsend at five singles, 6-2, 7-5. Reibeisen and Salam recorded the only Bison doubles win edging out Clough and Lacayo, 8-6, at two doubles. The Bison set off for Orlando, Fla. next weekend for some spring break competition. Bucknell's first match will be against Stetson on Sunday, March 13, beginning at 5 p.m. Results:
