Men's Tennis Team Picks up First Win of the Season

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bucknell men's tennis team got its spring break trip started in winning fashion, defeating LaSalle, 7-0, at the 16th annual Spring Break Tennis on Hilton Head Island, S.C. on Sunday, March 11.

Senior co-captain Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./Saint Georges School) picked up a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win at the fifth seed for the Bison, improving his season record to 3-1. Also winning were junior co-captain Alex Davydov (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury), 6-1, 6-1, at the number one slot, sophomore Todd Jacobs (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), 6-1, 6-2, at the second seed, third seed Scott Allen (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), 6-2, 6-1, and fourth seed Jeff Gould (Coram, N.Y./Newfield), 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles action, Jacobs and Gould teamed up to defeat their opponents at the number one flight, 8-5, while Allen and junior Lee Scarborough (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) picked up an 8-4 doubles win at the second flight.

Bucknell improves to 1-0 on the season and will face Quinnipiac at 8:00 a.m. on March 14.
