Bucknell Men's Tennis Blanked by Stetson

ORLANDO, Fla. - A day after beating Fairfield to start its Spring Break trip on an auspicious note, the Bison men's tennis team fell to Stetson, 7-0. Bucknell won at first doubles, but came up on the short end of the other two doubles matches and all six singles contests. The team's dual match record fell to 1-3 on the spring and 4-4 overall. Nick Denefrio and Matt Pikus teamed for Bucknell's win against the Hatters, beating Vittorio Fratta and Reid Stubbs, 8-2. Joe Menezes and Asher Salam fell to Thomas Bross and Christian Moe, 8-4 at second doubles, and Gerald DiChiara and Aaron Saperstein fell to Mario Cayo and Birger Soiland, 8-1 at third doubles. Denefrio was unable to duplicate his winning feat in singles play, however, falling to Fratta, 6-1, 6-3 at first singles. Salam lost to Moe, 6-3, 6-0 at second singles, and DiChiara dropped his match at third singles to Soiland, 6-3, 6-3. Pikus went 1-1 on the day as well, falling to Bross, 6-2, 6-2 on court four, while Menezes lost to Cayo, 6-3, 6-0 on court five. Saperstein lost to Stubbs on court six, 6-4, 7-5. The Bison will look to add to the winning side of the ledger once again on Tuesday against Franklin & Marshall at 8 a.m. in Orlando, Fla.
