Men's Tennis Team Picks up 6-1 Win in Home-Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell won all three doubles points, and five of six singles matches, on its way to a 6-1 victory over visiting Franklin & Marshall in men's tennis action on Monday, March 19.

The Bison got the match started by winning all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Senior Jeff Gould (Coram, N.Y./Newfield) and sophomore Todd Jacobs (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) defeated the Diplomat's Rami Abdul-Misih and Steve Emkey, 8-5, at the first doubles flight. The Bucknell tandem of juniors Scott Allen (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and Lee Scarborough (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) won at the second doubles flight, beating F&M's Manav Patniak and Matt Thornhill, 8-0. At the third doubles slot, senior co-captain Alex Davydov (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) and freshman Mike Rinaldi (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) picked up an 8-3 win over Nitin Kumar and Blair Glencorse.

In singles action, the Bison won at the second through sixth flights, including a 4-6, 6-4 (7,4) victory by Rinaldi at the number six spot in his first singles action of the season.

Bucknell improves to 3-1 overall and will head to Delaware for a match against the Fighting Blue Hens at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21. Franklin & Marshall falls to 1-4 on the season.
