RICHMOND, Va. - The Bucknell men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a tight 4-3 loss to Richmond on Sunday. The loss was the fifth consecutive for the Bison, who fell to 3-7 on the season.

The match was tied at 3-3 with just the outcome at No. 3 singles to be decided. After splitting the first two sets with Matt Stillwagon, Bucknell's John Lashnits (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greely) came from behind to force a tiebreaker, but fell 7-6. Lashnits trailed 5-3 in the final set and actually took a 6-5 lead at one point. Lashnits won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second by the same score.

Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School), Asher Salam (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Matt Pikus (Medford, N.J./Lenape) posted singles wins for the Bison. Reibeisen won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 1, while Salam claimed No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory. Pikus breezed 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.

In addition to their singles wins, Reibeisen and Salam posted Bucknell's lone doubles victory, defeating Stillwagon and Bobby McNally 8-6 at No. 1. Pikus and Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) put up a fight at No. 3 doubles, but fell by an 8-6 tally. Lashnits and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) fell 8-4 at No. 2.

"The match could have gone either way," said Bucknell assistant coach Stephen Monge. "Richmond is a good team.

"We were pleased with the play of Ira (Reibeisen) and Asher (Salam) in the match."

After five straight matches away from home, the Bison host Delaware Tuesday at 3 p.m.
