Bucknell Men's Tennis Blanked by Navy, 7-0, in Patriot League Opener

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell men's tennis team were overpowered in its Patriot League opening match up against Navy, 7-0. The Bison fell to 4-9 (0-1) on the season, while the Midshipmen improved to 8-10 (2-0). Navy posted the first point of the afternoon after winning all three doubles matches. The sophomore pair of Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) were defeated Nate Nelms and Johnny Waters, 8-3, in the No. 1 spot. The team of Junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) and freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) fell to Stanley Kahl and Adrian Lai in the No. 2 spot, 8-3. The duo of sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) lost 9-7, to Alex James and Ramsey Lemaich, in the No. 3 spot. In singles, Reibeisen fell to Nelms, in a three-set tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-1, (10-3), to end his winning streak at two games. Sandburg dropped a close two-set match up to Waters, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5, in the No. 2 spot. Hascoe was defeated by Lai, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 3 spot. Young lost his No. 4 singles match against Kahl, 6-0, 6-3. In the No. 5 spot, Brenner was defeated by James, 6-2, 6-2, while Bednarek fell to Lemaich in the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 6-0. Bucknell will host the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday, Mar. 31, at the Bucknell Tennis Courts. The match will begin at 11 a.m.
