Bucknell Men's Tennis Team Falls to Dayton
March 27, 2002
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team fell for just the second time this season, dropping 5-2 decision to visiting Dayton on Wednesday, March 27. Things started well for the Bison as the duo of senior Scott Allen and junior Todd Jacobs picked up an 8-5 No. 1 doubles victory over Carl Christiansson and Brad Nykiel. The Orange and Blue claimed the doubles point when senior Alex Davydov and freshman Nick Denefrio fought hard for a 9-7 win over Rob Altenau and Jon Khoury at No. 3 doubles. Dayton took over in singles, however, winning five of the six bouts on its way to the 5-2 victory. Bucknell's lone winner was freshman Gerald DiChiara. DiChiara was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Khoury at No. 5 singles. Allen nearly got the Bison within a point with an exciting 6-7 (6), 7-6 (6), 6-10 loss to Ben Kathary at No. 6 singles. Bucknell falls to 8-2 overall and will be in action next on Friday, March 29, when it travels to Franklin & Marshall for a 3:30 p.m. match.
