Bucknell Men's Tennis Beats Franklin & Marshall, 5-2

LANCASTER, Pa. - Playing with all freshman in the lineup, the Bucknell men's tennis team came away with a 5-2 win at Franklin & Marshall on Friday, March 29. The Bison improve to 9-2 overall with the win.

Freshmen Leland Tien and Gerald DiChiara played their first match at the first doubles spot, picking up an 8-2 win over Steve Emkey and Alex Chester. Classmates Nick Denefrio and Joe Menezes were also 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles, defeating F&M's Manau Patniak and Brian Pilkington.

In singles play, Denefrio came from behind to defeat Emkey at No. 1, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Menezes followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Patniak at No. 2, while Leland Tien picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles over Chester. DiChiara rounded out the Bison scoring with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Dan Lindenberg at No. 4.

The Diplomats claimed the third doubles match, and earned their points from the fifth and sixth singles bouts.

The Orange and Blue (9-2) are back in action on Thursday, April 4, when they host Binghamton at 3:30 p.m.

6. Alex Sanchez (F) def. Tom Steckroth - 3-6, 7-5 (10-5).

1. Tien/DiChiara (B) def. Emkey/Chester - 8-2.
2. Denefrio/Menezes (B) def. Patniak/Pilkington - 8-2.
3. Lindenberg/Sanchez (F) def. Bohlander/Steckroth - 8-5.
