Bucknell Men's Tennis Falls To Army, 5-2

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - On Sunday, the Bucknell men's tennis team lost its Patriot League home opener to Army, 5-2 at the West Branch Tennis Courts. The Bison fell to 5-10 (0-2 PL) on the season, while the Black Knights improve to 8-9 (4-0 PL). Army posted the first point of the afternoon claiming two out of three doubles matches. The team of sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) picked up the lone Bucknell victory in doubles defeating Johnny Lucero and Charles Mullenger, 8-4 in the No. 3 spot. Sophomores Jonathan Brenner (Manhassett, N.Y./Chaminade) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) fell to John Houghton and Phil Muhawi, 8-6, while the team of juniors Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) and Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) lost to Michael Good and Eddie Kang in the No. 2 spot, 8-4. Reibeisen earned a No. 1 singles victory in a tough two-set match against Houghton, 7-6(7-5), 7-5, to tie the score up at 1-1. Sandburg fell short to Muhawi, 7-6(11-9), 6-4, in the No. 2 spot, while Hascoe suffered a close defeat to Good, 7-6(7-2), 6-2, in the No. 3 spot, to put Army up 3-1. Brenner took down Mullenger in the No. 5 spot, 7-6(7-0), 6-2, but the Black Knights clinched the win after Kang defeated Young, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 4 spot. Orange and Blue will host Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, April 3, at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts beginning at 4 p.m.
