American Defeats Bucknell Men's Tennis, 5-2

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team fell to 0-3 in Patriot League play and 6-7 overall after American took a 5-2 decision from the Bison on Saturday afternoon. Joe Menezes and Matt Pikus provided Bucknell's two points at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. American swept the doubles point. Tushar Garg and Andreas Kulscar defeated Nick Denefrio and Pikus, 8-2, while Guillaume Tarralle and Juancarlo Vasquez knocked off Menezes and Asher Salam, 8-2. At third doubles, Jonah Fliegelman and Ruben Rivero beat Gerald DiChiara and Aaron Saperstein, 8-6. Pikus' win over Andrew Singer, 6-0, 6-4, was his fifth straight in dual matches and keeps him undefeated in Patriot League play. At first singles, Denefrio lost to Tarralle, 6-2, 6-1, while Garg beat DiChiara, 6-2, 6-3 on court two and Fliegleman beat Salam, 6-4, 6-1 at third. Menezes' win came over Kulscar, 6-0, 6-4, while Saperstein lost to Sebastian Proisy, 7-5, 7-5 at sixth. The Bison will play their second of four straight days of tennis against Navy on Sunday at 12 p.m.
