Bucknell's Men's Tennis Loses a Close One at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Bison lost a close one Saturday in a 4-3 decision to Colgate in men’s tennis, which brought Bucknell’s record to 5-8 this spring. The Bison were unable to get a doubles victory, but split singles matches with the Raiders, winning in the third, fifth and sixth spots. Sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) picked up the Bison’s first win in singles with his defeat of Phil Bernasek, 6-3, 6-2 in the third spot. Senior Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) won in the fifth spot over Ruslan Goussaiantnikov, 6-2, 7-6 and senior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) won in the final singles spot, winning 8-5 over Sean Spellberg in a pro set. Bednarek’s win brought his spring record to 10-3 in singles. The Bison will be back in action on Tuesday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m., with a home match against Lehigh, on the Fieldhouse Courts.
