Bison Men's Tennis Wins 7-0 Victory over Visiting Towson

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team won every singles flight, and claimed all three doubles bouts, on its way to a 7-0 win over visiting Towson on Sunday, April 6. The Bison won their second-straight match with the victory. Sophomores Nick Denefrio and Gerald DiChiara got the winning started with an 8-4 win over Chris Rowland and Todd Nagel at number one. Senior Todd Jacobs and freshman Asher Salam followed with a gritty 9-7 win against Ittai Dvir and Doug Ferguson at the second seed. Sophomore Joe Menezes and freshman Aaron Saperstein finished out the doubles play with an 8-2 defeat of Joel Young and Grant Mayhew. In singles action, every player won in straight sets for the Orange and Blue. Denefrio was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Rowland at number one. Jacobs picked up a 6-3, 6-0 decision against Dan Selzer at the second flight. Salam won 6-2, 6-2 against Dvir at the third flight, while Menezes earned a 6-3, 6-4 win against Young at number four. DiChiara won 6-2, 6-2 over Nagel at the fifth spot, and Saperstein defeated Mayhew, 6-1, 6-4 at number six. Bucknell is 3-13 overall. The Orange and Blue compete next at Binghamton on Thursday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m.
