Bucknell Men's Tennis Earns First Patriot League Win of the Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After falling short in its first four attempts, the Bison men's tennis team got its first Patriot League win on Sunday, beating up on Lafayette, 5-2. The Bison improve to 6-11 overall, 1-4 in the Patriot League this season. The Bison claimed the doubles point, winning all three matches. Ira Reibeisen and Asher Salam pulled out a tough match at one singles, beating Paul Guarino and Andrew Mott, 9-7. Nick Denefrio and Joe Menezes also had a tight match at two doubles, but came away with the win, besting Jeremy Fehrs and Brett Kraft, 9-8 (8). John Lashnits and Ben Young got the victory at three doubles, defeating Brett Warren and John Zazzu, 8-4. Bucknell was also tough in singles play, with Reibeisen beating Warren at two singles, 6-3, 7-5. Salam was the victor at three singles, upending Zazzu, 6-4, 6-4. Lashnits picked up the win at five singles, besting Fehrs, 6-3, 6-4. Menezes pulled out a win at six singles, sliding past Guarino, 1-6, 6-3, 10-2. The Bison tennis teams raised over $2,300 during the "Aces for a Cure" Fundraiser during today's matches. Next for the Bison men is a non-league matchup on Wednesday, April 13, against UMBC. The match is set for 3 p.m., in Catonsville, Md.
