Bison Men's Tennis Wins Second-Straight, Beats UMBC 5-2

CATONSVILLE, Md. - Keeping the momentum going from last Saturday's Patriot League win, the Bison men's tennis team beat up on UMBC on Wednesday, defeating the Retreivers, 5-2. The Bison won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Ira Reibeisen and Asher Salam won the match at one doubles, besting David Jackson and Irfan Shamasdin, 9-8 (2). Nick Denefrio and Gerald DiChiara defeated Fernando Ferreira and James Tyler, 8-6. At three doubles, John Lashnits and Ben Young slipped past Djan Gusmao and Albert Hardja, 8-6. Denefrio won his match at one singles, upending Tyler, 6-1, 6-4. Salam was the victor at three singles, defeating Mike Keller, 7-5, 6-1. At four singles, Lashnits picked up a hard fought victory, getting by Ferreira, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. DiChiara claimed the fifth Bison point, beating Jackson, 6-4, 0-6, 11-9, at court five. Bucknell, now 7-11 on the season, will play the final Patriot League match of the season on Friday as Lehigh visits Lewisburg. The match is set for 1 p.m. on the Bucknell Tennis Courts.
