Bison Men's Tennis Grabs 4-3 Come-From-Behind Win Over Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Trailing 3-0, the Bison men's tennis team engineered an outstanding comeback to defeat Villanova, 4-3, Saturday, in Villanova, Pa. Freshman Ben Young clinched the Bison victory, winning a hard fought match at six singles by taking out Tony Soruco, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. After the Wildcats secured the doubles point and won two singles matches, the Bison played some of their best tennis of the season to win four must-win singles contests. Nick Denefrio won his match at one singles, besting Aaron Kusza in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Ira Reibeisen kept the Bison hopes alive at two singles, also winning a difficult three-set match, defeating Dimitri Chimerakis, 7-6 (6), 2-6, 6-3. Asher Salam fought to win another three-set marathon, beating Angel Rubio, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. The Bison, who improved to 8-12 on the year, will travel to Binghamton on Tuesday, April 19. The match is set for 3 p.m. Bucknell will return home on Wednesday to face local rival Bloomsburg. The contest is slated to start at 4:30 p.m. on the Buckell Tennis Courts.
