Bucknell Men's Tennis Nipped by Binghamton, 4-3

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis squad dropped its final regular season match against Binghamton, 4-3, at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts, on Thursday. Junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) posted No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles victories to bring his career wins mark to 99. The Bison fall to 9-12 (2-3 PL), while the Bearcats improve to 7-10 on the season. Bucknell swept the doubles matches to earn the first point of the afternoon. The sophomore duo of Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) and Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) took down Faisal Mohamed and Alex Dobrin in the No. spot, 8-4, while the team of Reibeisen and junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) defeated Reina Kotake and Pierre Clavel, 8-7(4), in the No. 2 spot. Reibeisen dropped Mohamed, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot, to put the Bison up 3-0. He is now 12-7 in the No. 1 spot this season. Freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) fell in the No. 3 spot to Clavel, 6-3, 6-1, while sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) lost to Kohtake in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Sandburg lost a three-set match to Dobrin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0, in the No. 2 spot. Binghamton's Jon Bonnet clinched the match for the Bearcats with a three-set victory over Brenner, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, in the No. 4 spot. The Bison will participate in the 2007 Patriot League Tournament on Saturday, Apr. 21, in Annapolis, Md., on the campus of Navy. Bucknell, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will play No. 5 Lehigh in the opening round at 8 a.m. The winner will face No. 1 Navy, in the semifinals.
