Bucknell Men's Tennis Cruises Past NJIT at Home, 6-1

LEWISBURG, Pa. - With their second victory in a row, Bucknell's men's tennis team is climbing its way back to an even record. The Bison defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology 6-1 on the Fieldhouse Courts Saturday. Senior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) picked up two more wins, earning himself a tie with former Bison Ira Reibeisen for the program record for overall victories (145). Sandburg defeated Carl Lundquist in the first flight of singles, 6-3, 6-7, 10-6. In the No. 1 doubles spot, Sandburg teamed up with sophomore Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) for their team-leading seventh win this spring (7-4). Sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School), seniors Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and freshman Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School) were all winners in doubles and singles for the Bison. Bednarek's singles record is now a team-best 9-2 this spring. The Bison will be back in competition Sunday, March 29, at Navy in Annapolis, Md., at noon.
