Bucknell's Men's Home Tennis Match Against Lehigh Moved to Thursday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's men's tennis home match against Lehigh, originally slated to be competed on Tuesday, April 7, has been postponed until Thursday, April 9. Bucknell will look for its first Patriot League win against Lehigh on the Fieldhouse Courts. Competition is slated to kick off at 2 p.m. The Bison carry a 5-8 overall record as they take on the 7-14 Mountain Hawks. Lehigh is 2-3 in Patriot League play and the Bison are 0-2. In their last match, the Bison were edged out 4-3 to Colgate. Earlier this season, Lehigh was swept by Colgate 7-0. The Bison and Mountain Hawks have also had other common opponents in Navy and Mount St. Mary's. Navy beat both teams 6-1 and Lehigh and Bucknell defeated Mount St. Mary's with a score of 7-0. Next up for Bucknell is another home match against Army on Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m., on the Fieldhouse Courts. The Bison will play three home matches in a span of four days as they host Lafayette on Sunday in their final league match before next week's Patriot League Tournament. Notes Sandburg and sophomore Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) have produced the most Bison doubles victories this spring with a record of 7-6. In singles, senior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) has the most wins, with a record of 10-3 this spring.
Tuesday's match against the Mountain Hawks will be Coach Rebecca Helt's 150th as head coach of the Bison men. Helt carries an overall record of 58-91in her seven seasons. She has led Bucknell to double-figure wins each of the last two years. Sophomore Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) has the best career winning percentage among current Bison. Malloy's career totals are 43-16 in singles and 36-20 in doubles for a .757 winning percentage. Freshman Gregory Maxson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Hotchkiss) has a 13-4 record in singles and a 6-3 record in doubles for a close second place with a .731 winning percentage. Maxson has not lost a match this year in the four spot of singles (4-0) and is the only Bison to have an undefeated record in any singles court. The pairing of junior Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) and Malloy has only lost one match this spring (3-1).
