The Bucknell track & field program has seen much success since Joe Klim arrived on the Lewisburg scene back in August of 1996. Coach Klim oversees the sprinters, hurdlers, and multi-event athletes. Klim's women's athletes have produced 14 school records, 63 top-five performances, 95 top-10 performances, and a total of 13 Patriot League team championships (four cross country, five indoor, four outdoor). On eight different occasions, he was a member of the coaching staff recognized as the Patriot League Staff of the Year. On the men's side, Klim's athletes have produced 10 school records, 33 top-five performances, and 54 top-10 performances. He also coached sprinter/jumper Noel Powell to a provisional qualifying spot at the NCAA Championships. During his two-year stay at Emory University prior to Bucknell, Klim helped lead the Eagles' men's and women's track & field teams to their first conference championships. While at Emory, Klim was part of a coaching staff which garnered UAA Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 1995 & 1996 for men's indoor and in 1996 for men's outdoor. After 13 years of coaching at the collegiate level, Klim has helped lead seven teams to their first-ever conference title, and has won a total of 20 conference championships. In addition, he has developed national qualifiers in 14 different events with an outcome of All-Americans in the high jump, triple jump, decathlon and 400 meter dash. Klim graduated from Elmhurst College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He earned his Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Physical Education from Campbell University in 1994. As an athlete at Elmhurst, Klim won several honors including Athlete of the Year in 1990. He joined the Elmhurst Hall of Fame member in 1997. Klim served as Elmhurst's head cross country and track & field coach for the 1991-92 season. Besides his coaching duties at Bucknell, Klim is the recruiting coordinator for the cross country and track & field teams. Klim holds both a USATF Level I coaching certification as well as a USATF Level II certification for the jumps, throws, endurance events and multi-events. Klim currently resides in Lewisburg.
