LEWISBURG, Pa - Behind strong performances by sophomore Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton), senior Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and freshman Jason Inzana (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone), the Bucknell men's indoor track and field squad posted its first team victory of the season at the Bucknell Heptagonal in Gerhard Fieldhouse. The Bison scored a total of 161 points. Shippensburg (132), Saint Francis (Pa.) (110), Duquesne (91), East Stroudsburg (50) and Wagner (12) finished second thru sixth behind Bucknell, respectively.

Boyle notched first-place finishes in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes. In the 200, the sophomore ran a time of 22.43 seconds, which was a personal best and ranks him tied for fourth in school history. He also qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 400 with a time of 48.35, which was also a Gerhard Fieldhouse record. Hoffman won the 35-lb weight throw for the second consecutive meet with a distance of 61 feet, 1 ½ inches (18.63m), which was also an IC4A qualifying mark and a new personal best. Inzana won his first pole vault competition of the season after clearing a height of 14-3 ¼ (4.35m).

Senior Matt Forys (Howell, N.Y./Howell) qualified for the IC4A Championships in the one-mile run after notching a time of 4:12.49. Freshman Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) notched an IC4A qualifying mark in the long jump to claim second with a distance of 23-5 ½ (7.15m). Senior Mark Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) broke the plane with a time of 1:56.84, which was good for third place in the 800. In the 3,000, juniors Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Acad.) and Andrew Corral (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) finished second and third with times of 8:32.76 and 8:37.92, respectively. Senior Sean Egan (Yorkstown Heights, N.Y./Fordham Prep.) crossed the line third in the 5,000 with a time of 15:29.77.

The quartet of sophomores Kevin Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) and Boyle and freshmen Gregory Baxter (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and Sean Coyne (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) posted a first-place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 3:21.70. MacLeod also finished third in both the 55 hurdles (7.89) and the 500 (1:06.88), behind junior Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili), who placed second with a time of 1:06.50.

The Bucknell men's indoor track and field team will be back in action of Friday, Jan. 20, to host the Bison Open and Multi in Gerhard Fieldhouse.
