Bucknell Men's Track and Field Wraps Up Bison Open and Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's track and field team finished the Bison Open and Multi on Saturday evening with junior Ryan Robinson (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and freshman Evan Novakowski (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) winning their respective events.

Robinson posted a first-place finish in the high jump with a season-best mark of 6-6 ¼. Bucknell took the top-two places in the 500-meter dash with Novakowski in first (1:07.73) and freshman Matt Bender (Holland, N.Y./Holland Central) in second (1:08.16).

Sophomore A.J. Kizekai (Pawtucket, R.I./Blair Academy (N.J.)) placed fifth in the final for the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.11, the second-fastest time in Bucknell history.

Top finishes in running events included sophomore Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dummer Academy) in the mile, placing fourth with a time of 4:26.98. In the final for the 200-meter dash, sophomore Gregory Baxter (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) clocked in at 23.26 for seventh, while sophomore Sean Coyne (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) was the top finisher for Bucknell in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.46 for 13th. In the 800-meter run, freshman Jake Schroeder (York, Pa./York Suburban) took 10th with a time of 2:01.48. Freshman Clayton Smith (Sparta N.J./Pope John XXIII) ran a time of 2:35.05 to lead the Bison in the 1,000-meter run, placing third. In the 3,000-meter run, freshman Joshua Clark (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) ran a time of 9:10.52 for ninth place.

In field events, freshman Daniel Kubinski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Preparatory School) posted a season-best distance of 43-9 ¾ in the triple jump for third place. Senior James Meyer (Pac. Palisades, Calif./Pacific Palisades) posted a second-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 54-11 ½.

 

 

In the heptathlon, sophomore Ryan White (Elkins Park, Pa./Father Judge) led the Bison with a second-place finish (4,720), followed by freshman Drew Fitzgerald (Ballston Spa, Pa./Ballston Spa) in fourth (4,409) and sophomore Thomas Vogler (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) in eighth (4,128).

In the final three events on Saturday, White ran a time of 8.00 in the 55-meter hurdles (first, 849), went 14-1 ¼ in the pole vault (second, 702) and 2:58.02 in the 1,000-meter run (sixth, 684). Fitzgerald clocked a time of 9.39 in the 55-meter hurdles (10th, 524), went 13-9 ¼ in the pole vault (third, 673) and 3:05.41 in the 1,000-meter run (ninth, 612). Vogler went 9.36 in the 55-meter hurdles (eighth, 530), 11-5 ¾ in the pole vault (fourth, 482) and 2:56.79 in the 1,000-meter run (fifth, 696).

The Bison are now set to travel to Akron, Ohio next Saturday, Feb. 2, for the Akron Open.
