Bison Track Teams Kick Off Outdoor Season at UNC-Charlotte

McKnight, Garcia Were BU's Top Finishers

Justin McKnight Placed Third in the Javelin at the 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Led by sophomore throwers Justin McKnight and Maria Garcia, the Bucknell University track & field teams registered solid individual performances in their outdoor season opener, the Charlotte 49er Classic, hosted by UNC Charlotte on March 15-16.

McKnight turned in the highest individual finish for the Bison at the non-scoring meet. With a heave of 186'5", McKnight placed third among 23 competitors in the javelin. Garcia was the top performer on the women's side, taking fifth in a field of 28 in the hammer with a heave of 172'1".

Sophomore Stephen Finlan and junior Adam Kaufman also placed among the top-10 for the Bison. Finlan finished fourth in the javelin with a mark of 180'4", and Kaufman's toss of 161'1" in the hammer was sixth among 22 competitors.

The Bison return to action this Saturday at the Quaker Invitational, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
