RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior Stephanie Bango reset her own school record in the 800m run on day two of the 2002 Adidas Raleigh Relays, leading a strong overall effort from the Bucknell University men's and women's track & field teams yesterday on the Paul H. Derr Track.

Bango came in fifth out of 20 runners in the 800 in a time of 2:10.02, eclipsing her former Bucknell record of 2:11.50 set in 2000.

Senior Kelly McConnell also performed well for the Bison. McConnell raced to the second-fastest time in school history in the 1,500m run, as she came in 14th in 4:38.38, just 5.34 seconds off the BU record set by Julie Sweitzer in 1998.

Sophomore Maria Garcia posted the women's team's third-highest overall performance with a 22nd-place showing (149'6") in the hammer throw. Freshman Tolulope Fayanjuola was the only other Bison on the women's team to compete as an individual, and she placed 58th (32'11 ¾") in the triple jump.

Junior Bryan Johnston was the top individual finisher for the men's team. Johnston came in 10th in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:17.32. Sophomore Nick Mousetis was 21st in the same event in 9:33.24.

Also competing as individuals for the men's team were seniors P.J. Ward and Michael Euell. Both athletes participated in the 1,500m run. Ward finished 24th in 3:57.78, and Euell was 37th in 4:00.37.
