MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - While several of Bucknell's top track & field athletes participated in the Penn Relays Saturday afternoon, the majority of the team spent the day at the Millersville Metrics, where the split Bison squads recorded several outstanding individual performances.

In addition, Bucknell sent a handful of its throwers to the College of New Jersey Lion's Invitational, where the Bison sent home three individual champions.

At Millersville, the Bison women's team placed fifth among 23 schools with a 54-point total, while the men's team finished eighth in a 24-team field with 33 points. Leading the way for the women's team was Kiley MacDonald, who picked up one first and one second-place finish. She placed first among 19 competitors in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.65, just 0.9 seconds shy of the school record. MacDonald also took second in the 200-meter dash in 25.98, eight-best all-time at Bucknell, as did Edwina Bourn in the 100-meter hurdles (14.82) and Robin Meling in the triple jump (35'8 ½").

Finishing third on the afternoon for the women's team were Jennifer Marsh in the 800-meter run (2:18.72) and Monique Boley in the 400-meter dash (59.02). Also cracking the top-six and earning points for Bucknell were the 1,600-meter relay team (fourth, 4:04.36) and Elizabeth Pendelton in the hammer (126'9").

At the Lions' Invitational, Bucknell's Maria Garcia (163'5"), Gwen Soult (152'8") and Erin Lee (149'9") took 1-2-3, respectively, in the hammer throw to lead the Bison throwing contingent. Lee landed a first-place throw in the discus (139'4"), while Laura Schaffer added a second-place effort (39'5 ¾") in the shot put.

For the men's team, Eric Furst led the Bison with an incredible showing in the 800-meter run. Furst captured the 61-competitor event with a blistering time of 1:53.84, a personal-best and the Bison's fastest 800 time of the season.

Also turning in a personal-best was Jeffrey Arek, who took second in the pole vault with a mark of 15'0". That vault ranks as the sixth-best in BU history.

Other Bison breaking the top-six included Matias Palavecino (fourth, 1,500-meter run, 4:02.19), Richard Alexander (fourth, 110-meter hurdles, 15.51; fourth, 400-meter hurdles, 56.1), Mike Mellas (fifth, 400-meter hurdles, 56.18) and Kevin Walsh (sixth, 1,500-meter run, 4:02.84).

Adam Kaufman, the reigning ECAC Field Athlete of the Week, led Bucknell at the Lions' Invitational with a victory in the hammer throw. With a winning toss of 169'7", Kaufman captured the event for the third week in a row.
