BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a sixth-place team showing the last two seasons, the Bucknell men's track and field team posted a second-place finish at the 2007 Patriot League Championships scoring a total of 144 points behind Army, who won the meet with 162 points. Navy rounded out the top three with 141 points, while Lehigh (79), American (74), Lafayette (50), Colgate (19), and Holy Cross (13) finished fourth thru eighth respectively. Senior Joshua Kaehler (Hanover, Pa./South Western) was named the Patriot League Male Field Athlete of the Meet, while freshman Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Academy) earned Male Rookie of the Meet honors.

Sophomore Kevin Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) took first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.60 seconds, which was a personal best and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. He placed third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.87 and fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.02. His time in the 110 hurdles was a personal best and ranks him fifth all-time at Bucknell.

Anthony earned his second silver medal this weekend in the triple jump with a distance of 48 feet, 4 ¾ (14.75m), which is an IC4A qualifying mark. Sophomore Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) finished second in the 400 with a time of 47.89, which was an IC4A qualifying time. Matthew Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) picked up a silver medal in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:01.03, which was an NCAA East Regional and IC4A qualifying mark.

In the decathlon, Bucknell had three athletes score in the event. Freshman Ryan Whit (Elkins Park, Pa./Father Judge) placed second with 6,234 points, while freshman Thomas Vogler (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) and senior Robert Gradoville (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) finished fourth and sixth with 5,904 and 5,803 points, respectively.

 

 

The 4x400 relay team of senior Eric Guja (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's), junior Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) freshman Clement Gyan (Yonlers, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) and Boyle posted a third-place showing with a time of 3:15.85. The time qualified them for the IC4A Championships and currently ranks third all-time at Bucknell.

Also scoring for the Bison was freshman Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), who finished fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.02 and ranks seventh all-time. Senior Mark Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) notched a sixth-place showing in the 1,500 crossing the line with a time of 3:53.31.

In the field events, senior Richard Simpson (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) and sophomore Ryan Robinson (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) placed third and fifth after clearing heights of 6-8 (2.04m) and 6-6 (1.99m), respectively. Simpson's mark qualified him for the IC4A Championships. Freshman Jonathan Lockhart (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) threw for a distance of 148-7 (45.30m), which was good for fifth place.

Senior Nick DeGregorio (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) became an IC4A qualifier after he finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 51-7 ¾ (15.74m). His mark ranks him third all-time at Bucknell. Freshman Timothy Medlock (Evan Mills, N.Y./Indian River) posted a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 50-6 (15.39m), which ranks him fourth all-time.

Bucknell will be back in action on Friday, May 11, at the IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J., on the campus of Princeton.
