Dan Frake and Mike Contino Earn Bronze Medals at Patriot League Championships
May 6, 2005 EASTON, Pa. - Dan Frake and Mike Contino were the highest finishers on Friday, each earning a bronze medal at the Patriot League Track and Field Championships at Fisher Field in Easton, Pa. The Bison men are currently in fourth place with 22 points. Army leads the competition with 64 points. Frake used a big last throw to grab the bronze in the hammer, throwing a mark of 173-0 (52.74m). Frake also earned a scoring finish in the discus with a toss of 130-0 (39.63m), good for sixth place. Contino led the Bison in the long jump, finishing third with a leap of 21-4 ¼ (6.51m). Tyler Palumbo also scored in the event, placing fifth with a jump of 21-2 (6.45m). Matt Johnson rounded out the Bison scoring in the event with a sixth place finish (21.0 ½). Dan Lounsbury notched a fourth place finish in the 10,000-meters, finishing the 25-lap race in 31.02.67. Rob Gradoville and David Mante also contributed points to the Bison total, tying each other for sixth in the pole vault, both clearing 13-9 1/4 (4.20m). Matt Corbetta will be the lone Bison in a sprinting final tomorrow afternoon, qualifying in the 200-meters. Corbetta ran the fourth-fastest time in the field in the preliminaries, crossing the finish line in 27.72. Competition continues tomorrow with action getting underway at 9 a.m. The final event at the championships is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
