LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Tuesday, the Patriot League announced that freshmen standouts, Steven Pierce (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazeton) were named Male Field Performer of the Week and Female Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their stellar performances at the Bison Outdoor Classic, this past weekend.

Pierce, who has been named the Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week twice this outdoor season, earned his first Field Performer of the Week award for his first-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 216 feet, 9 inches (66.08m). The Ridgewood, N.J., native, qualified for the NCAA East Regional and the IC4A Championships in May. His distance ranks him second all-time at Bucknell and he holds down the top spot in the league as the best mark this season.

Mantush was named Female Rookie of the Week for the first time this season for her fifth-place performance in the heptathlon, scoring 4,434 points. She currently sits fifth all-time in the event and is ranked second in the league. The Drums, Pa., native, already owns the best mark in the league in the high jump with a height of 5-6 ½ (1.69m)

The Bison will host the Bucknell Team Challenge on Saturday, Apr. 21, at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. with the men's triple jump, while the running events will start at 12 p.m. with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
