LEWISBURG, Pa. - Five Bucknell men and 10 Bison women were named to the All-Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field teams, on Thursday. Bucknell hosted the 2003 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The men's team received second place, while the women earned third.

The Outdoor Track and Field All-League Teams are chosen based upon the student athlete's performance at the 2003 Patriot League Outdoor Championships held May 2-3 at Bucknell. The winner and runner-up in each event earn all-league status.

On the women's side, Nicki Piper (Mineral Point, Pa./Central Cambria) finished first in the 800-meter (2:15.12) and assisted the women's 4x400-meter relay (3:50.86) to a second place finish. Charity Brady (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) placed first in the 200-meter dash (24.93) and second in the 400-meter run (57.13). She assisted the 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay teams to a second place finish.

Maria Garcia (Providence, R.I./Hope) threw the hammer 166'10" for a gold medal.

Dionne Bonds (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) earned a gold in the triple jump with a leap of 38'¼". Senior Theresa Dennis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Hanover Area) finished second in the 10,000-meter run (37:05.15).

Amy Calvo (Trenton, N.J./Lawrence) and Monique Boley (Alexandria, Va./Washington Lee) assisted the 4x400-meter relay to a second place finish.

Rehana Lanewala (Newark, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional), Edwina Bourn (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and Kiley MacDonald (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) assisted the 4x100-meter relay team to a silver medal.

On the men's side, junior Noel Powell (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) received the only set of gold medals for the Bison. The three-time all-star earned first place in the long jump with a leap of 23'8". He also placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.52, a school record. The junior star placed second in the 200-meter (21.466) and assisted the 4x100-meter relay to a silver medal (41.63).

Bryan Johnston (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:10.66 for a second place finish.

Ryan Newberger (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive), Matt Solomon (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) and Micah Wright (Bensalem, Pa./Milton Hershey School) assisted the Bison's 4x100-meter relay to a second place finish.
