Bison Men's Water Polo Opens Princeton Invitational Play With Tough Loss to Queens

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bison men's water polo squad faced its fourth nationally ranked Division I program in five games this season, falling 11-8 to 14th-ranked Queens at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, September 14. The Orange and Blue dropped a 17-5 game to the Knights last weekend, then ranked 12th in the country.

Bucknell played Queens tight through three quarters, trailing 7-6 to start the final period. The Knights outscored the Bison 4-2 in the fourth frame to come away with the three-goal victory.

Senior Daniel Lonnerdal, junior Jamie Saettele and sophomore Elliot Benoist each had two goals in the loss, while Lonnerdal added two assists and Saettele and Benoist handed out one helper each. Also scoring for the Orange and Blue were sophomore James Danforth and freshman Brad Unroe. Danforth also led the squad with three steals.

Sophomore Ernest Martin played the entire game in goal, stopping four shots by the Knights.
