PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bucknell men's water polo team started the weekend on a strong note, picking up a 13-3 victory over Washington & Jefferson at the inter-regional championships of the Collegiate Water Polo Association, being held at Princeton this weekend.

Freshman Elliot Benoist (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) scored five goals in the Bison victory to lead the team. Eight other players contributed in the goals scored column, each netting one score. In addition to his one goal, junior Chris Saxton (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) ended the contest with two assists and one steal.

Defensively, senior goalkeeper David Kennedy (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) played the first half, making four saves and allowing one goal. The co-captain now stands just four saves shy of a Bucknell career record. Freshman Ernest Martin (Winchester, Calif./Perris) played the entire second half in the net, stopping five Washington & Jefferson shots, while allowing two goals.

The Orange and Blue improve to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in conference action. Bucknell plays George Washington at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
